Maverick Technical Solutions was established in 2022, born of the idea that we could deliver excellent customer service to the access control and electronic security industry. We believe that we can help our customers to get the most out of their systems, and we can provide additional value and functionality to existing products, as well as act in an advisory role for users who want to maximise the stability and reliability of their systems. Collectively, we have over 30 years’ experience in the access control industry. We want to be different, go against the norm, be mavericks in how we approach customer service and technical assistance to our customers.

I’ve been in the access control industry since 2009. I started my journey at Skycom in Durban (which was acquired by G4S Secure Solutions), where I worked as a Systems Specialist, working with Impro Technologies access control, XTime T&A, and integrated products. This gave me the much-needed “in the trenches” experience in working directly on system installations and projects.
I joined Impro Technologies at their head office in Pinetown in 2012 as a Senior Technical Support Specialist, working my way up to Technical Support Manager, managing teams in Durban and Johannesburg, and providing advanced technical support to customers globally. I left Impro Technologies in 2022, with the goal of providing excellent service, support and technical expertise to my customers, within the framework of a business venture that I have the opportunity to manage and run directly.
I’ve worked extensively with Impro Technologies access control systems, IDEMIA, Suprema, Nitgen, HikVision, HID biometric devices and SQL-like databases. I also have knowledge of Linux operating systems, PowerShell and C# programming. I have a passion for all things technical and data related, focusing on access control and related security systems and technologies.
I started with Impro Technologies in 2005 and this is where my career with access control started. Working my way up within the ranks of Impro Technologies, I eventually moved on from my position as Technical Manager in 2011 and joined First Technologies for around 18 months. My time working on the ground gave me massive insight on how the product I supported for so long was actually used in the field, too often, I was stuck behind a PC guiding people on how to fix their problems, but little did I know how tough it would be on the other end!
In 2013, I left First Technologies and joined Powell Tronics, again, starting at the bottom in the Technical Department and working my way up to Branch Manager of the KZN region. Along the way, I moved into the sales department and applied my technical knowledge of the products to the sales side of the business and grew the KZN business to unimaginable heights, until I left in 2020 to pursue my long term goal of being a business owner. I was instrumental in growing the Enkulu Technologies company to a Tier 1 distributor of Impro Technologies access control products.
I have extensive experience with Impro Technologies access control systems, IDEMIA, Suprema, HikVision, Jarrison Systems and OpenItem. I take pride in my ability to dissect a product, understand it and then provide advice and support that enable users of the product to make correct business decisions when purchasing a solution.
